PROFILE
After a long waiting
for sixteen (16) years, Hanseatic has finally decided to return to
Indonesia and re-establish its business presence. Back in January 1990,
Hanseatic had opened its representative office in Jakarta which was led
by Captain Frank Schwanke and assisted by Mr. Ayub Junus - an Indonesian
national whom prior to the assignment had spent three month in HSC' head
office in Limassol as management trainee (after finishing his MSc degree
in Plymouth UK). Due to some reasons, the representative office did not
continue and was closed toward the end of 1990. Capt. Schwanke returned
to Germany to pursue other career and Ayub Junus continue his career
working for Sealand Services for its container logistics division and
later setup his own crewing agency business (PT. Belvamas Maritim
Indontama) in 1996.
In April 2006, HSC
decided to explore the possibilities
of recruiting Indonesian seamen/ officers and ratings and resumed
contact with Ayub Junus to assist with the study to be undertaken by HSC. During
the study period, HSC was awarded a vessel with already existing
Indonesian officers and ratings onboard so therefore as of 18 August
2006, HSC has started employing Indonesian seafarers and appointed Mr.
Junus and his company as the local Indonesian recruiting agent. This
appointment remarks the continuing of business relationship with an old
associate whom already familiar with HSC' standard business practice.
In early November 2006, Mr. Andreas
Droussiotis and Capt. Rene Dzicki came to Indonesia and visited the
existing maritime colleges in Jakarta, Tangerang and Semarang cities and
as well to meet with the government official in charge for seafarers
maritime training. During this important visit, it was also concluded
for HSC to firmly establish its own business presence in Indonesia
and to form a new joint venture with Mr. Ayub Junus under the name of
PT. Hanseatic Recruiting Agency Indonesia (HRA) which the process will
be completed within this month.
The establishment of its own company in
Indonesia shows the strong commitment of HSC to seriously explore
new crewing potential offered by Indonesia being as the 4th largest
population (with 250 million people) in the world after China, India and
USA ; and also as the world's largest archipelagic country with a total
of 17.508 islands.
